Bangladesh Marine Academy, Sylhet is a maritime educational institution with full governmental status that oversees by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of Bangladesh. From Pre-Sea Cadet Training, it offers courses for all levels of sea-services.
Bangladesh Marine Academy, Chattogram was reestablished in 1972 after the liberation struggle, realizing the significance of the nation's reformation and economic progress. This institution has been the only public maritime training facility to prepare officer cadets. Nearly 50 years later, four further marine academies were built in Barishal, Pabna, Rangpur, and Sylhet by the ministry of shipping, which served as the implementing agency. Being the Commandant of the Bangladesh Marine Academy, Sylhet makes me feel privileged and honored.
The Academy offers 4-year Pre-Sea Nautical Science and 4-year Pre-Sea Marine Engineering programs as part of its commitment to 'creating world-class maritime leaders'. The Cadets also receive a 4-year Bachelor of Maritime Science in Nautical Science/Marine Engineering (Honors) degree in parallel through an affiliation with the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University in Bangladesh.
This Academy has been constructed with the most cutting edge facilities to nourish and culture the young cadets to the industry needs in order to stay up with the expanding demand of this global business and the specifications given down by international convention on Maritime education and training. To the best of their ability and with the utmost sincerity, the Commandant, Faculties, Officers, and Staffs will continue to train and outfit the young cadets with professional knowledge and attitudes. In addition, the academy will continue to be committed to investigating future development in light of industrial demands.
